In railroad mergers in the past, usually one took over the other and changed
their name to reflect the merger. EL, PC and NS are a good example of this.
Conrail was not the case, because a new corporation was formed to save
bankrupt northeast roads.
When the Burlington, GN, NP, and SP&S merged to form BN; did one corporation
survive or was a new corporation formed? Some say GN was the surviving corp.
Also was their a surviving corporation in the BNSF merger?
