They were built to replace more expensive steam engines on branch
lines. However they got used all over the place. The longest run of a doodlebug
was from Lincoln to Billings Mont.

As the Burlington had 57 Gas-Electrics there were all types. There is a roster
in Al Holcks "Burlington Route color pictorial" Vol 1.
9450 - only all Passenger
9500's - Baggage-coaches
9600's - Mail - coach
9700's - Baggage-mail
9800's - Baggage-mail-coach
C&S 402 was a baggage only.
The 9700's regularly pulled coaches and 9767 was painted silver to pull the
Silver Pendulum. I have found a picture of a Baggage-Coach pulling a
Baggage-Mail combine. And as boodlebugs were retired some were converted to
baggage coach trailer cars to be pulled by other doodlebugs.
