Hi Don:
In the late 1960's as one of Bob Richardson's honorary "nephews" at the
CRRM, I rode the 96 a couple of times. Once was a trip to Julesburg &
return behind the 8444. I saw 90 MPH on the speedometer in the 96 several
times that day. I also saw that speed behind the 5632 on the Illini RR Club
Colorado trip in 1960, riding Upper #10 in Car 50, the Chief Illini.

> restoration work on former CB&Q business car 96 (on display at the
> Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden) is close to being finished. This

> Also, electric heat and air conditioning were added to allow year-round
> comfort. The final touches will include repairing the window shades and

> Concepts (owned by Dick Luckin with the car's logo in burgundy on white
> porcelain with gold edging. Flatware was also donated to the car to
> match the china. Car 96 has its own 12 complete settings to be used for
> catered dinners aboard the car."
