Hi all,
The following appeared in our local paper this evening, the La Salle/Peru
News Tribune and I thought it might of interest to some in the Society:
MENDOTA - "How the town of Mendota resulted from a chance meeting in 1852
at Boston's American Hotel" will be the topic when Bill Greenwood,
president of the Mendota Museums and Historical Society, presents a program
of railroad history at the La Salle County Historical Society's annual
dinner meeting Sunday, Nov. 12 in the Mendota Civic Center.
Greenwood spent more than 30 years with the Burlington Northern Railroad
[and one of it's predecessor railroads, the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy].
The activities start at 12:30 pm with a buffet luncheon at 1 pm. A short
business meeting will end the afternoon, during which new officers will be
elected, new board members nominated and outgoing board memebers will be
recognized.
Cost for the event is $15 and reservations are requested. To make
reservations, call [815] 667-4861.
