Thanks for ideas on how to return the shine to the bell.The Naval Jelly 
sounds interesting(i.e. a lot less elbow grease).
Yes, Same Bill Wohl who swam in Lake Michigan everyday of the year regardless 
of the temperature. He would walk from 14th st yard to 12th st beach and take 
a swim. Then he'd have a heman sandwich for lunch(I have the recipe and have 
been known to partake from time to time). Bill lived to be 83 and left us a 
few years ago. Last year his widow(my great Aunt left us and me the 
bell).Bill had 30 years of service in frt,pass and baggage service. One of 
his most interesting stories was about how he had his name changed(shortened) 
during the war and then some of his"brothers" went to the union meeting 
demanding that he get a new seniority date under the new name.
Bob, unfortunately we'll never know as Bill didn't know the engine number.
