Thanks Gary I had forgotten about the Zephyr Pit switch tender. I do however remember very well riding the ladder on the E units back to the pit on the weekends. Every once in a while on the night jobs we took the entire train to the pit. Gee, I'll bet Sam and Ralph had "long whiskers" to hold day, 12 HR and unsupervised spots. Leo |
