I have N, O and O27 trains. What I did was change to N scale about two months ago. Still buy O and O27 scale when on sale or if I see something I really want. I do not have a layout for any of my trains. With N scale I can get more trains and maybe make a layout since it takes up less room.

In two months I got an oval track Kato set M1, Kato C44-9W BNSF Warbonnet, BNSF mineral red 8 car set, Gunderson Maxi-iv double stack BNSF Swoosh 3 car set swift containers, Gunderson Maxi-iv double stack BNSF Swoosh 5 car set MOL containers, two BNSF swoosh boxcars, two BN boxcars, Frisco boxcar, BN hopper, Santa Fe hopper, 2 Santa Fe boxcars and a Santa Fe reefer. Of course the two Burlington cars I sent. I have my eye on some Great Northern cars also.

I'm trying to stay within the BNSF legacy trains. What I find hard to do is pick an era. I thought late 60's to early 70's would work and I can merge some with the new BNSF engines. So I'm a little all over the place right now. The only thing I can come up with is. Run some older trains then any that might mix with newer. Also an different engine leave in the yard. Then run those with newer cars and engine. Just keep doing that and work my way up the legacy.

Oops!  That was sent before I was finished.  Sorry about that.  Do you have operating layouts in N and/or O?

Anthony,

Congratulations on the fine looking Christmas additions to your Q stables.  They are making some nice equipment in N-scale these days.  While they may not perfectly represent specific CB&Q classes, they do a very nice job of capturing the essence of cars used on the Q up to the BN merger and beyond.

I'm not too concerned with the road numbers on an N scale model or any scale really. I can barely see them anyway on the N scale. What I am concerned with is years they ran and looks of the cars matching real ones.

I regret to advise you that these are not exactly accurate CB&Q models. The number 48383 on the box car was last used between 1933 and 1940 on a rebuilt XA-6 auto box car. Maybe change the number to 48583 which was allocated to a XA-15B (it looked similar) between 1941 and 1970, and into the BN era.

The gondola car E3141 looks like the Bachman 42’ model.  The Burlington didn’t use letters before road numbers and I can’t think of any CB&Q steel gondolas that were similar to the model. I bought this same model about 35 years ago when I started collecting Burlington equipment. I ended up repainting it orange as MoW equipment, representing a foreign car that was rebuilt after being written off in a wreck.

But it is your train on your layout so if they look good to you, that is the only criteria.

I attached two new N scale Burlington cards I got for Christmas. I got a total of 22 cards for Christmas, some O and N scale. It was a very nice Christmas for me.

Can anyone tell me what years these would have been ran? Which year they would have been last seen?

Thanks,
Anthony
