Steve, would the LCL cars have contained halves and quarters? I agree no
"boxed meat" as known today. But it may have been meat that had been further
cut and processed at the branchhouse or a full processing packing plant. And
let us not forget the hotdogs, hams, sausages, and wide variety of cold
cuts, ie bologna, that were often advertised with well-known brand monikers.
I for one, appreciate the postings from all you former railroaders, and this
LCL meat peddler car string is great. I just presented my meat packing
clinics at a meet in Florida, now I have more material to insert when I show
the photo of a meat peddler car. Thanks to all.
