On many of the Q's gas electric motors (E.g. #9838, page 118 in Corbin's
Burlington in Transition or #9849, page 53 in Spoor's CB&Q in Color - Vol 3)
there are a series of curved pipes running crosswise across the roof near the
front of the car. There is also a screened area behind those pipes as seen on
the folio drawings for Nos. 9838, 9839 & 9840. Are those associated with the
cooling system for the air compressor? Since there is a radiator and fan
behind the louvers on the front of the car, I would guess that they are not for
engine cooling.
