A friend of mine received a misc. box of slides from a guy a while back. The
guy just wanted one copy of a photo from each slide. His payment was the box
of slides. There was one that caught his attention, when he scanned it, as
he printed it off. Date: 1957, Location: St. Paul, MN.,Photo: shot from
Indian Mounds Park, above the CB&Qs Bluff yard, The Milw. Road St. Paul
yard, at the time of the photo was only two years old, and the CGW Bridge
Yard, now former C&NW St. Paul "Belt Yard."
Same friend also bids on old railroad memorabilia on Ebay. He won a bid on a
stereo-graph picture of the same area, only the date was either the early
1900s, or late 1800s. Only things in the stereo-graph photo was the CB&Q
yard, and the Milw. Road mainline to Chicago, and just out of the picture,
due to trees, was the bridge yard. Interesting thing about this
stereo-graph, was the location of the roundhouse at this time in Q history.
Original roundhouse location was against the bluff where the Reserve Street
bridge/ Warner Road now is at. The Burlington Hotel is also very visible in
both photos as well.
