Steve, that was the same incident. Jerry H and I walked back to find out what
had prompted the driver to cross in front of us. As you stated, the truckers
at the truck stop got pretty agitated 'cause we had run through one of "theirs"
and were making that point with somewhat unfriendly gestures and comments.. I
got somewhat "heated" myself and invited all of 'em ta line up 'cause 6610 was
still usable and I'd be more than happy ta run over (through) the entire bunch.
It was about this time that Jerry suggested we return to the engine since
nobody had been hurt - - - - YET.
Leo, never had an incident in Waterman itself but, as I'm sure you can
remember, that x'ing was a BAD scene. The trip before the corn crash I missed
a truck load of heavy steel plate by a couple of feet. You guys remember when
the Fireman's Local Chairman from Galesburg took out the area immediately east
of Rt. 23 with, I think, 82? Stacked 'em up 3 deep.
