 Hi Paul:

I have an old 2005 -2006 clipping from the Galena paper talking about the
trail which was the Q branch. It has a picture of a Q passenger excursion
in Galena. It says the excursion was around 1958 and service ended about
1960.

The paper is called the Galenian Fall Winter 2005-2006. You might be able
to get a copy from them or the historical soc. I thought the Q historical
soc was going to do a story on the Galena line. Maybe one of the Q books
would have some more info. I'll look when I get a chance.

We are planning a trip to Galena later in the year and I'm going to nose
around now that I have maps showing where the CNW narrow gauge was and the Q
and all the depots.

I think there was also some discussion on the IC Yahoo site about Galena and
a link to a bunch of pictures. I think part of the Q depot was in one of
the photos. .

Best of luck.

Roger Kujawa
Morton, IL.

Roger:
Thank you for the suggestion. I just joined the CNW group, and the info
there is very helpful. Also, I was not previously aware of earlier
discussion on this group about the history of Galena, so thanks for that
also.

I am still looking for specific info about the timing of abandonment of the
Galena branch, and of the erection of the levee that is there today.
If you are aware of a knowledgeable resource for some of this more recent
history I would be grateful for that also!

Regards,
Paul
