[CBQ] Galena Levee Question

When were the tracks removed, and when was the levee built in Galena, Illinois? 
 Prior to then, what was the service to/from Galena?  Was there some sort of 
way-freight or turn from Savanna?

A 1924 Sanborn map of Galena, shows CB&Q tracks crossed over to the north side 
of the Galena River at the foot of Warren Street, then ran along Water Street 
parallel to C&NW and IC trackage. None this is there today (according to Google 
Earth), but there is a big levee instead that protects the north side of Galena 
town.
  
I couldn't find any reference to this in the Yahoo group search, or for that 
matter any reference to Galena at all in the excellent "Publications Index" 
recently made available to us by Mr Gamlin.
