When I went from Palmer, NE to Kansas City in 1945 to get into the Navy V-5
program, my dad got me a pass for the trip. I road in the waycar behind a
short string of freight cars, headed by an old K-2, from Palmer to Aurora,
NE, and the rest of the way on 42. When I was riding in the waycar, I
didn't consider that I was riding a mixed train. I thought just I was riding
a freight. Dale

In the early 50's the train thru Bradford, Il. was a mixed with passengers
riding in the waycar, power was a gas electric on this branch, I rode it as
a youngster from Buda to Bradford.
