The Q was an early subscriber to Trailer Train (TTX) which was born out of the Pennsylvania RR TOFC fleet, so it did not need to acquire its own long cars for dual trailer service. The 85 foot cars on the roster were the Flexi-van cars which were primarily for bulk mail. The other long cars were permanently coupled cars with a bridge plate used for moving farm and construction equipment from Peoria and the Quad-Cities area. Here are representatives of the two groups. The 88029A&B were shot by Irv Fierstein at Hastings, Nebraska and the 96023 with NYC containers shot by Hol Wagner  at Denver, Colorado. Jim Sandrin

As of the April 1966 ORER CB&Q had 12 85' flatcars, They might be the Flexi-Van cars ( I don't know).
