On the subject of Silver Post and Silver Page, 1602 and 1603 were (according to W. David Randall in his The Passenger Car Library Volume 1 – CB&Q ) were originally intended to be named Aeolus and Aurora….apparently for use in the 1936 Twin Cities Zephyr consists for a mail contract that did not go to the CB&Q. 

One wonders what beyond the Milwaukee routing going through another large city (Milwaukee) influenced the Post Office to favor anybody but the CB&Q?

Perhaps the GN and NP people had clout and were cutting off their nose to spite their face by handing off the business to a Q competitor…..we know they did that in freight because with the BN the routings changed to the Q all of a sudden.

I'd like to run a combined EB/NCL in HO Scale.  I have the Walthers Empire Builder cars, a number of their NP-painted cars, and several Proto Q E's.  The info above on the Q RPO is helpful.  What years were these eastern connections run combined, and was it mostly seasonal or year-round?  What would have been a typical/representative consist for this train?
