As a  service to those who might be interested.

Part 1 of the article “Working the Dinkies in the 1970s” is going to the printer on Tuesday. The FOBNR group only prints an extra 10 copies beyond membership. If you are interested in buying a copy(cost is $5 plus $2 mailing) from the Friends of the BNSF let me know via private message so they know how many extra copies to run. They do not sell through hobby shops. You will need to go their website and order once the issue is posted.
The article is 7 pages long and includes some nice photos as well as several track diagrams at the various Aurora and 14th street yards. Part one covers a typical day from that first 3:20AM wake up call until the 8:45A dead head special.
Part 2 will be 8 pages long and will print in January, it covers the crews’ layover, jobs over town, card games, romance on the Dinkies and the family connections among the subjects through the evening rush until about 7PM.

I receive no commission or payment of any kind.

Leo
