Hi Bill Hirt, I also am interested in what Rapido advised on the numeral removal. I do late 1960s and I will also need to remove and re-apply the cab heralds so they are off the latches.

Does anyone know the CB&Q application/practice of the unit number and "CB&Q" lettering on the cab end, above the windows? In looking at photos, I wonder if it was a retro-application done on some units, maybe in the 1960s. For the Rapido SW1200 #9277, a Flickr photo shows "9277" san-serif over the top left window and "CB&Q" serif over the top right window. Other photos show that there was NO unit number on the hood end.
