According to Model Die Casting, I'm embarrassed to say, Um yes. Remember
those were produced in California during the 1970s and to say that was a
fantasy paint job would be too kind.
HOWEVER, you could kitbash a credible passenger car from the MDC Pullman
Palace line of car kits. Using Bill's book as a guide you would have to
section cut windows or groups of windows and rearrange them to match the
plans. Cut below the roofline and through the vertical siding,
reassemble the components and reinforce the seams. The problem with
those bodies is that the thickness of the walls are inconsistent from
side to side and car to car. To get a smooth carside you need to line
up the side components from the outside glue with Testors liquid cement
and reinforce the joint with .010 or .020 sheet styrene.
I would paint the sides with your choice of Pullman Green and paint the
roof Black. If you intend to pull a string of cars, replace the
wheelsets with Intermountain or Reboxx and the cars can be pulled by a
K-2 class.
By the way, I highly recommend getting the book. It is spiral bound, and
the plans are in HO scale. There are 146 plans with car numbers,
floorplans and names. The book was printed in 1986 with a total printing
of 1,000. Mine is #461 and is signed. Happy hunting.

What was their color, markings, names etc.?
