Jerry, The check stop valves are separate castings, not molded into the boiler. I talked to Ken Martin about this, and he claims he has photos of these in the horizontal position. I think he said the

The photo in question is an Otto Perry photo dated 1919. All others I have seen are in the 30's or later. This makes it an almost new engine and it would probably have been changed later when shoped.
