There are static steam engines in Burlington and Ottumwa. Both are near the depots. There is a Burlington Junction loco in Ottumwa. There is a loco and caboose in Albia at the historical muesum paint

Not sure if this is the same line you were thinking of but the C&NW had a line from Belle Plaine, IA to Consol, IA that was referred to as the Pumpkin Vine.  It crossed the CB&Q at Stark, IA   John B
