Fred,

The photo was taken at Galesburg, IL, on July 30, 1964.

I see that Fred Meyer’s number should be correct, but I was asking about Olson.

Dave and others:

I can fill in a few names.  The Meyers is Fred Meyer who was General Agent in the Traffic Dept. in Centralia, IL

The Oslm is E. L. (Gene) Olson who was Division Freight Agent in Galesburg.

If I knew that date of the photo I could tell you which jobs the Traffic Dept. members had at the time.

Exactly!!  The numbers on the name list were what Louis sent me without anything on the photo.  The numbers/names on the list omit people in the back two rows (only 29 names vs 39 men in the photo).  I added the numbers on the photo to exactly match the names to the 39 men.  It is indeed very confusing!

The numbers on the list do not match the photo numbers. 🤔

Jim,

What exactly were you trying to communicate???

The numbers on the list that Louis provided are the confusing factor because they are all jumbled and do not match the number of men in the back two rows.  That’s why I placed numbers on the image and was hoping to find folks who still remembered some of these men and could put the names with the numbers on the photo.

Hi All,

In my haste to get help, I failed to mention that the numbers on the photo were added by me and DO NOT correspond to the numbers for the notes from Louis.  I hope this helps ease the confusion.  When identifying people, please associate the names with the number on the photo.

OK, I'm confused.  There are 39 numbered people in the photo, but only 29 in the IDs.  And the very few I know don't look like who they're identified as.

Hi  All,

This is for the old heads that worked on the Q.  On the attached image, are you able to match any of the following names from Louis to the folks and the numbers I’ve added to the photo?  Those at the table I believe are good, it’s the standing folks we are having a difficult time with as we know almost none of these folks.

Dave

Sitting At Table - Left To Right

1. M.F. Schwamburger - Supt. Of Rules

2. C.J. Miller - Supt. - Aurora (now we can positively ID Mr. Miller as being with the inspection Buick at Oregon)

3. Joe Turner - Retiring - Asst. Supt. - Centralia

4. Ross Van Ness - Supt. Of Safety - Omaha

5. I.G. Toland - Supt. - Hannibal

6. R.G. Johnson - General Manager - Chicago (ranking officer in attendance - a sign of high respect for Mr. Turner)

7. ? Myers - Traffic Department - Centralia

8. Bud Ehrich - Traffic Department - Chicago

Standing - Left To Right

1. Tobe Miller - Signal Supervisor - Galesburg

2. Behind No. 1, C.H. Bryant - probably Trainmaster - Galesburg

3. H.E. Pierce - To Assistant Supt. - Centralia (succeeding Mr. Turner)

4. Behind No. 3, Do Not Know

5. D. Stevens - Assistant Engineer Track - Galesburg

6. Behind No. 5, O.E. Stevens - probably assistant to general manager - Omaha

7. Cliff Shaw - Transportation Department - Galesburg

8. Behind No. 7, L.H. Dyer - Supt. - Galesburg

9. Next to No. 8 - Do Not Know

10. Behind No. 2 - Whitey Sorenson - Retired Lineman (hard to decipher Dad's handwriting for title) - Mendota

11. Behind No. 10 - Between No. 10 and 11 - Do Not Know

12. Behind No. 3 - Steve Kuzma - probably Asst. Master Mechanic - Galesburg

13. Between Nos. 12 and 14 - L.R. Hall - Engineer Of Track - Chicago

14. Between Nos. 3 and 4 - M.L. Zadnichek - Supt. - Chicago

Here's where it gets a little confusing:

15. Back Row - Dick Chay - Probably Trainmaster - Galesburg

16. Art Hammond - Traffic Department - Chicago

17. Back Row Between Nos. 16 and 18 Front Row - Do Not Know

18. Front Row - Joe Grimes - Traffic Department - Chicago

19. Back Row Between Nos. 18 and 20 - Looks like D.M. Seeger - Asst. Trainmaster, Ottumwa

20. First Row - Lowell Frick - Test Department - Aurora

21. Behind No. 20 - Do Not Know

22. Next to No. 20 - Kenny McGill - Assistant Engineer Track - Galesburg

23. Back Row Between Nos, 22 and 24 - Mike Blakley - General Car Foreman - Cicero

24. Red Gibson - Master Mechanic - Galesburg

25. Back Row Between Nos. 24 and 25 - Ed Spomer - Asst. Supt. Car Shops - Havelock
