But looking at track diagrams for the branch, it would appear that being only 12.9 miles from Minnekahta, no tank was built at Hot Springs to accommodate what , operationally, might be considered a switching move on a long spur. This is pure speculation on my part. Perhaps someone with ETTs to consult could give a more definitive reply.
