Pullman-Standard did this on several roads' cars. The Rock Island, Seabord, and New Haven come to mind.

I believe that the cosmetic effect was achieved with “bolt-on” sections rather than by painting the lines on the sides.

The pictures you have of “streamlined heavy weight cars were  Tourist Sleepers on the Canadian. The marketing dpt apparently decided they didn’t have enough sleepers so they took section sleepers and streamlined the exteriors with three tourist cars on each Canadian until the the 60’s (?)s
