Uncommon, but it happened occasionally (after NP's 1964 acquisition of eight second-hand Slumbercoaches) during the summer and winter holiday "high seasons." The 7th rear car, an Empire Builder Pullman in BN livery, makes this post-merger. Rear two cars (a Traveller's Rest and a Slumbercoach) are deadheading to Chicago to enter Amtrak service, as are the rear four motors (F-units). All of which fixes the date as Sunday May 2, 1971, making this the final eastbound Builder/North Coast. Bill Schultz
