While being a wild and crazy guy, the narrator does pretty much explain why it's all, uh, hooey.
 
Considering how short the wheelbase was for the original trailing truck on the O-5, it seems odd that someone would expect to add another axle into that wheelbase.
 
IF that 6 wheel trailing truck would have been applied to a Northern, I think it would have been done on a NP engine--something like a class A.  NP was pretty famous for having giant fireboxes and grates, so as to burn their free garbage coal.  But it still would have been pointless without a consequent larger firebox above that new trailing truck.
 
Nope:  HOOEY!
 
 
The Lima 4-8-6 proposal was covered in an article in a Trains reprint edition.  I've still got it here, somewhere.  It included an impressive illustration.  Besides the 6 wheel trailing truck it also had a "double-Belpaire" firebox, fancy valve gear, and a Delta trailing truck on its centipede tender.  70" drivers, as I recall.
