Hello folks:

If, at times, you have questions or informational needs about the CB&Q rail lines, there is an updated set of features that might help you find your information fully and quickly.  The graphic below shows the path to these features.

Linking from the “List of Line Segments” web page are four supporting web pages.  They are numbered 1-4 on this graphic.

  1. This web page is a basic list showing the station name, state, county, division, FSAC and OPSL numbers, and more.
  2. This web page displays all of the available alignment charts for this line segment in physical track order. Each chart can be viewed either in the normal horizontal format, or for more detail reading of the small print, a rotated copy can be viewed. Both can also be viewed full screen.
  3. This page is a geocoding page that list the station, state, FSAC number, county and the latitude and longitude of the station. The purpose of this web page is more for maintaining this information than it is for supply answers to questions.
  4. This web page is a Google map that shows the location of all geocoded stations on the chosen line segment. This map shows the viewer where the stations are spatially on top of a current highway or satellite map.  Placing your mouse over any of the red Google pins will display the station name and state. Like most Google maps, you can zoom in and pan in all directions. If while viewing a line segment with this map, you happen to find a stations location to be incorrect, let me know where it should be (hopefully with the correct LAT/LON numbers), or correct the LAT/LON data ourself if you know how.  Some stations maybe missing as their location has not been geocoded with the LAT/LON data yet.

The station names on the first three features listed above have links to the station details web pages. On these station web pages there is a plethora of details. There are thumb nail photos of each station in the BRHS Photo System with links to the full size photo web page, physical and operational information, alignment charts, industries at this location, connections, and links back to each line segment this station is a part of.  It also has a place for comments and information -- supplied by members on dozens of station pages.

In case you are wondering, the official 1968 CB&Q station book is the basis for these 157 line segments. It lists all of the Q stations alphabetically and by these line segments.  Copies of the 1968 and earlier editions are available to read on the Q Rail Network section.

Well, this is it for now. Hope this information helps you get value out of the website.  Your comments and suggestions are welcomed.
