I think the Pullman Library *MAY* have one, I'll have to check. We have very few of the railroad bridge books. The profiles & alignment books typically have some information. The Ledgers (to the ICC) have most information in them. In the ever-stimulating book: Accounting Classifications Governing blah blah blah Railroads - all of the accounting of assets for a railroad are laid out. The Account Ledger in question would be Ledger 6 Bridges, Trestles and Culverts. Within that Ledger 6 is information pertaining to abutments, bridge signs, concrete & masonry ends for culverts, cribs, decking, dike protection, drainage, draw protection, drawbridge engines, false work, guard timbers, et al - you get the idea. Every railroad HAD to submit updates to the ICC and retain & maintain these ledgers in house. Not sure when or if this process has ended or what took their place. The big question is - what happened to the CB&Q's Ledgers? The ICC had one copy (and you may be able to access it via NARA (if they are still open)) and the railroads had to maintain their own copy. BNSF *may* have them at Fort Worth or they may be at the Newberry or in the BRHS archives. The Ledgers of the various Accounts have incredible use for modelers and historians. Want to know when a given car got new drink dispenser? It's there. New couplers? New trucks? New seats? - all are in the Account 54 (Passenger cars) along with costs, AFEs, cost of betterments, retire dates, etc. Same with any asset. There are over 80 of them, each pertaining to a class of asset. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
