Thanks for the responses. I was “only” interested in the general theory of the exchanges which was covered in the piece that Michael provided.

But does anyone have an alignment chart covering the track between the Transfer Sation and the CB&Q?

My memory of the Range Research book(sold it years ago and now being offered by the BRHS archives as a reprint) is that it also listed many through cars west bound going to the west coast.

I found a note that mail could not be passed through by the car load, so presumably it would have been unloaded from a Burlington train and transferred to a UP train. Is that correct? Who operated the transfer point? Was there a difference between eastbound and westbound mail?
