Hi Leo. The peat moss plant you referred to was Anderson peat moss plant which is still in operation. The station was called Oliver and was later changed to Sam in honor of LaCrosse Conductor Sam Jiardina who was killed in the washout accident at Oliver on. June 16, 1990. The complete story of this accident can be found in the Pea Vine book pages 208 to 212. There was another plant with loading facilities on the Lass to Garden Plain branch which was called Markman. Bud Linroth.

Tom,
In addition to my prior response you may want to listen to my presentation on Mendota done at the BRHS annual meet in Sept. at Mendota. Some but not all industries are covered in the presentation. Just log in to member only side of the website and go to videos.

Were there any industries served by the Q on the "Around the Horn" route from Savanna to Denrock to Mendota? In Mendota I see from a spreadsheet that there was a Del Monte Foods plant, but my spreadsheet doesn't show anything along the "Around the Horn" line itself.
Also interested in any Q served industries between Mendota and Aurora.
