[CBQ] Q owned coal mines?

To my knowledge, the Q did not own mines in Mahaska County, Iowa.  The Q did interchange with the Lost Creek railroad at Stark until 1902 when the Q Burlington & Western was converted to standard gauge.   There was a large explosion at the Lost Creek mine in 1902 also.

After being converted to standard gauge, the Q built the line from Oskaloosa to Tracy in 2902.  It served a few mines in the area of Beacon and Bolton.  The line served the power plant of the Oskaloosa Traction & Light / Oskaloosa & Buxton Electric using a low trestle to dump coal in to their coal bins.  To pass through Oskaloosa,  the Q built a half mile gauntlet track with the Rock Island.  This line was sold to the M&StL in the mid 30's.  After it was sold, a coal washer plant was built on this line at Fosterdale. Remnants of the washer are still there.

The C&NW did own mines in the Buxton area.
