I worked Aurora Tower the last 6 months of 1973 and one nite had a train with stock that would not fit between the Golf Course crossing west of Aurora and the switch to the Sheep yards at Montgomery(in the west end of the Aurora Plant)  So I had them come on down to the tower.  We cut the 4 stock cars of calves off and set them out on Depot track 2.  Put the power back on and went to Cicero.  When the switch engine came up from the coach yard(down the now gone incline where the station is today) I ran them right on to the stock cars and out the west end of the depot down into the Sheep Yard Lead. ( It was called the Sheep Yard although both cattle and sheep were handled thru it.)

Not sure when the rates came off but it was after 1973

The CB&Q did not exit the livestock business. We had handled livestock on the BN until, I believe until 1977. Spotted quite a few myself.
