[CBQ] High water / Savanna 2001

A little off the current subject being discussed but since Savanna is getting 
significant attention, it might be of interest to some regarding the high water 
of spring 2001.

I have quite a few photographs of the Savanna yard and train movement through 
water over top of rail.  The Aurora subdivision was part of the Minnesota 
Division then. The BNSF / CPRR diamond received a great deal of attention 
including more than one lift.
The mechanical department was all thumbs down on locomotives moving through 
standing water. 
There weren’t as many stack trains as today, but still had the hot daily 
intermodals. It was always the question, detour or paddle through.
And of course watching the predicted crest.

I’ll have a look and see if I can locate that chapter of adventures in 
railroading.
