John, As always, it depends. What year(s) are you trying to model? Q's version of the heavyweight Railroad Roman lettering was gold leaf, but after some point (late 30's early 40's?) they started using an imitation gold - similar to Dulux gold. In 1948/49 they initially started to use the ribbon-style lettering in imitation gold on the rebuilt Suburban HW Coaches and power cars. It eventually was used on repaints and rebuilds of HW cars. For a period, you can see a mix of RR Roman and ribbon-style lettering. Some never got the new lettering. A further note - the Q did not use "Burlington" on the letterboard of the HW sleepers. Those stayed "Pullman" until withdrawn from lease, and then were just painted over, leaving no letterboard name. There are numerous producers of the ribbon-style decals, including Micro Scale. I'd love to hear from anyone who definitively knows when the gold was replaced by the imitation gold. Rich G
