Unless they have recently changed, Walthers Proto line locomotives have full LokSound V5 decoders. My GP9s I bought this past year had full V5 decoders.

The Walthers Mainline locomotives have Lok Essential decoders which are stripped down versions of V5 decoders. To me, they are fine for a switcher (I have a Mainline SW7 and think the sound/features are fine), maybe not so much for other locomotives in the Walthers Mainline line.
