One Saturday afternoon during October, 1971, Dick Hovey and I went exploring with our cameras. We found a work train in the Chariton yard and took photos of each car. Only two cars were BN, the rest were still CB&Q. The ladies with us disappeared and we had no idea where they went. They eventually reappeared and told us that a lady living on one of the cars saw us taking photos and the women with us looked bored, so she called them over and asked them if they would like to see her house. The life of the workers' spouses would be another interesting story. The railroad spouse was probably lonely for female company. I created a photo file called Chariton Work Train - October, 1971 and it has 9 photos. I read the car numbers as best as I could. Ken Vandevoort _._,_._,_
