I pre-oredered my Walthers Proto HO Scale SD9s on 12/13/2022. They were originally due this past fall and now show Spring 2024 arrival as Bryan said.

The last run of blackbird Walthers Proto HO Scale GP9s was sold out almost immediately at Walthers. So if you want these, I would pre-order them now as the Walthers web site shows they are still taking pre-orders.

ESU decoder #58429 is the one to get for the non-sound unit if you want to install sound. I did this on one non-sound GP9. Use the Soundtraxx sugar cube mobile phone speaker. It can be mounted over the rear truck. The 21 pin decoder plugs into a circuit board after taking out the DC plug. I have the LokProgrammer, so I was able to easily get it programmed. Some retailers will sell you the decoder with the correct sound profile installed that you specify.

The most difficult part of the install was getting the shell off and back on. If you have taken the shell off other Proto locomotives, it is similar. It is a tight fight.

I need 344 which is only available non-sound. If someone wants 328 or 339 non-sound, please contact me offline since I'm willing to swap bodies / trade frames and make you a good deal on the non-sound unit.
