Hi Ed - my experience and reading miscellaneous internet posts, the first batch of Athearn Genesis NE13 cabooses have a flaw in the DCC decoder that has too much resistance for the red marker lights. If you darken the room and look really hard, the lights do work, but very faint. There are some postings about work arounds.

The recently released second batch of cabooses seemed to have addressed the issue, as my C&S NE13A caboose's red lights are visible in normal room lighting.
