To date there is no specific work dedicated to the Sheridan/Alliance  and Casper Division operations, though there is a rumored piece in the works building upon the collection and archives that Al Holck assembled over his lifespan as a Q photographer and historian.  If it ever sees the light of day, perhaps that work might also tap the resources of the Jim Ehernberger and Joe Douda collections.  The best we have available are scattered articles and photos from sources such as the two "Burlington Route Color Pictorials" and the "Burlington Route Passenger Train" volumes from Four Ways West. The out of print BN Annuals that Hol Wagner authored had quite a bit of Q specific material  concerning the Sterling to Cheyenne line and the Black Hills operations, as well as roster or consist shots of power operating on those lines.

Two books by South Platte Press, which may be hard to find at this point, are "Alliance and Everywhere West" by Richard C. Kistler and Joseph C. Hardy and "Burlington Route West - A Personal Journey" by Joseph C. Hardy also have some photo coverage but not a lot on operations.

From my perspective the best route is to familiarize yourself with the Sheridan and Casper lines by way of Richard Overton's "Burlington Route" history and then begin a systematic approach mining assorted web-sites for appropriate photos and articles, such as timetables or the Fallen Flag-type of  photo archive. Lines west of  Lincoln did not draw many photographers, aside from a few hearty souls that actually lived in the region. Sorry, but there is no quick fix for this one. The member's only material on The BRHS web-site is a good jumping-off point  Good Luck with your quest.   Jim Sandrin
