That’s what I thought, and that’s why I never considered modeling the DZ. I was hoping for something else.

Nelson,
The DZ was running the 1936 sets until the new 1956 sets were built. That was a combination of articulated and non-articulated cars.

What about the rest of the consist, i.e were any of the articulated car sets running with E units? Does anyone have a consist circa 1953 to use for modeling the DZ
With E units?
In 1955 the shovelnose units were long gone from the DZ. They had been converted to "boosters" by this time and they were starting to scrap them. The DZ would most
certainly be using the E-units, from around 1949 or so. You could see the shovelnose units on the Twin Cities Zephyrs in 1949-50. Converted shovelnose boosters were frequently used between two E units on the Empire Builder in 1951.

The Denver Zephyr was re-equipped in 1956. I saw a supposed 1955 Denver Zephyr photo with a E unit in the lead. In 1955, did the front
end of the Denver Zephyr still have the “old” 1930s look, like the attached photo, or could a E unit be up front? thank you, Jim Gattis G4Trains@gmail.com
