A one hour presentation on the Burlington’s Fox River branch from Montgomery to
Streator,IL will be held on Sept. 24th at Kendall County Historical Society’s
Lyon Farm at 7935 Route 71,Yorkville,IL starting at 1PM.
This shorter version will cover highlights of the history of this line that had
large, heavy sand,gravel,coal and the typical agricultural business and all
complicated by extreme line grades.
A smaller version of the BRHS company store will be on hand.
Jeff Kehoe, author of the book on the Illinois Midland Railroad is also
scheduled to speak in another time slot the same day.
These presentations will take place in the main building on the campus(same
building the 2019 BRHS spring meet was held in). The original Plano depot and
the Q waycar will be open for visitors throughout the day.
The presentations are part of the Kendall County H.S. Fall festival that will
be open from 10A-4P with hay rides, farm displays, an operating steam tractor
and other events.
There is an admission charge to the festival.
