Jerold, I now live in Indianola. Moved back in retirement. I have some maps and photos, mostly RI, but a little Q. There is a model railroad club here in town that may have a little more information. Herea re some samples.

My name is Jerold Crawford and I also belong to the Rock Island  group.io/.  I am interested in both the Rock Island and the CB&Q railroads in Indianola.  I would love any maps or other information about both routes into Indianols, Where they connected, depots, history of through runs from one line to another.

A bit of an introduction:  I am from Corydon, IA which was on the BN nee CB&Q's old Keokuk and Western line to Humeston.  I am 68 and during my lifetime. I have seen an absolutely breath-taking abandonment of the old CB&Q lines in the southern 3rd of Iowa.  I was surprised the last time I was home, I actually shed a few tears when I drove past the Cinder Path on the old Chariton to St. Joseph line.  I remember when there was a train that went up one way and back the next day. On TUE and FRI the local brought less than carload freight to Corydon.  I remember all the people showing up at the depot  It was like that all over southern Iowa.  What a loss all those abandonments were. County after county in southern Iowa and NW Missouri no longer have rail service. Some places in NW Missouri are 76 miles from the nearest railroad track.

My husband and I moved to Tampa, FL and have stayed since we have retired.  None of the hobby stores here have even heard of the Midwest railroad lines.  One of my hobbies is that I restore antique railroad crossing signals. specifically wig-wags and rotating stop sign crossing signals.  Happy to talk crossing signals anytime.  Just PM  or email me.
