Tom Find attached a photo of a Gib Albach Photo taken from the tower at Savanna(note rods in the foreground) Gib use to work for the CB&Q and was a member of the Little Q As I was until being moved in 1983. Gib sold prints when color slides were made into prints way back when. This Photo has hung in my home office since then so is fading a little. Wonder what ever happened to the Chart on how to work Savanna Tower that use to be in the back room of the Little Q. Steve in SC

For those who follow such things, this is a first and a new model locomotive confirmed in Savanna for 1965 or later. While I'm sure SD7's frequented Savanna in their early years, by the mid- to late-60's (my modeling era of 1965-merger) I had no photographic evidence of SD7's at Savanna. That doesn't mean they were never there, but in all the books, magazines, web photos I've looked through, no SD7's! That is until today... The following showed up on eBay today: https://www.ebay.com/itm/144498138447 Blackbird SD7 314 leads Redbird SD7 307 and a train into Savanna in 1967! Since I can't read any date on the slide mounts, and the date stamped on the slide mount would be the date of duplication and not the original date the slide was taken, I checked my repaint spreadsheet and found that the earliest date of SD7 307 in red that I have found is 4/66. I show 314 was still in black as late as 9/65. So I think a 1966-67 timeframe for this slide, especially considering how fresh the paint on 307 looks, is correct. What is really cool about this one slide is that it is a pure SD7 lashup and for me confirms the ability to run both Blackbird and Redbird SD7's into Savanna in my era. I think I may have to renumber a couple of my P2K SD7's... -- Tom Mack Cincinnati, OH _._,_._,_ Groups.io Links: You receive all messages sent to this group.
