USGS Earth Explorer is a gov't site which has historic aerial photographs.  It requires that you have an account which is free.  It is not very user friendly but has a lot of good stuff once one can figure it out.

The 'Historic Aerials' referred to above is a private company which provides historic aerial photos and topographic maps for sale.  However, one can screen their database and look at the information but there is a watermark across the front of the images which is removed when you purchase the material.  Still, it is very user friendly and you can clearly see the photos and topographic maps.

A lot of county assessors web pages have aerial photography and some have historic aerial photography.

Although not aerial photography, there is a great US Geological Survey site (USGS) which has historic topographic maps.  They even have kmz files which, when you open the file, it opens up in google earth as an overlay.  It is a free site and one doesn't have to have an account.  I live in western Colorado and this site has original topographic maps dating to the late 1800's.

For Iowa go to https://ortho.gis.iastate.edu/

Most states appear to have a Geographic Information System (GIS) of some form that offer aerial photos.

Back some 15-20 years ago, I remember visiting a website of aerial photography done, maybe in the 30's, by some government agency. The entire state was photographed and then divided into its counties. I was able to follow the "Q" from Union Station to the borders. Does this site still exist, and if it does, what would the web address be? Thanks in advance. Mike.
