I just received my copy of the Mark Twain Zephyr books volume 1 and 2 that was done by Kandace and Robert Tabern with the help and cooperation of the Wisc Great Northern Railroad.
Dave Lotz was helpful in contributing information and details about the MTZ along with John Kelly.
As soon as I started reading volume 1, I couldn't put it down. What a wealth of information, photos, drawings, menus, newspaper articles, and so much more.
When these books were first announced, I wondered if they would be worth it and procrastinated about adding more books to my large collection of books about the Q.
Having read volume 1, I am glad I got these and have already started volume 2. There is a 3rd volume that covers the restoration of the MTZ by the WGN group and plans to make it operational by in the next several months. I can't wait to ride it!
I'll have to add that 3rd volume to my collection as well.
Thanks to all that helped with this detailed history of one of the most famous Zephyrs in history, and one that is still alive today. To Dave, the BRHS, Jan Kohl of Castle Graphics, Archie Hayden, along with all the other contributors - too many to mention
here.
I'm proud of the BRHS and all the members that continue to keep the history of the Q alive and well.
