I remember the uproar when Stewart brought out the F units with the unusual gray paint.  I believe John Lee, works part time for Badger) was the source for gray used by Stewart.  John defended the color saying it from a PPG color chip that the Burlington used.  John went on to explain that the painted faded quickly due to the cleaning solution the Burlington used in its wash rack and  Sunlight.  I believe John said the color change took only a couple of years so most Q fans never the original paint color.
