I doubt that any of the plastic RTR car makers would be interested In a specific road single class model with BLI offering the PRR sound car (in thousands of road names) and Intermountain and Walthers offering
ATSF, UP, Mather, etc.. again with lots of road names for which the cars aren’t prototypical. They won’t offer E5 AB models for the same reason, and nobody but Con Cor has offered the E5A but only as a train set in N scale. The best bet is resin, but the
SM-19 is quite different from the SM-18, so it would require new patterns and masters. With Sunshine out of the picture, maybe RCW could be persuaded, especially since Frank did the Sunshine SM-16 kit. The only other possibility I see would be if Ed and Jerry
offered the SM-19. They’ve had success with both the GS-5/7/8 gondolas and the FM-11 flatcars. Other than that, the outlook looks bleak.
For those willing to scratchbuild SM-19s, the four part Mainline Modeler article on the SM-18 could be used as a guide, but HO scale plans would be needed, and I don’t know offhand if drawings have been published.

Dave and Nelson. Thanks for the information. I have both Sunshine kits you mentioned. Maybe this would be a good time to lobby for these cars. Any manufacturers listening?
