The announcement is for E8/E9 locomotives. The only external
difference between an E8 and E9 was the nose headlight gasket. The
headlight was more a flush fit on the E9. Life Like Proto 2000 and
now Walthers Proto do the same thing with their E8/E9. So them
having a E9 number would be fine.
And red stripes are A-OK for us 1963-era modelers!

in the worthless red nose stripes... One can only hope
for the all silver scheme with black nose stripes. ;-)
