Richard C. Overton’s “ A History of the Burlington Lines” does mention
CB&Q entering into an interline agreement with the GM&N and NC&StL
via the Paducah Gateway in spring 1926. The apparent catalyst was perishable
freight. The GM&N acquired trackage rights over the NC&StL between
Jackson, TN and Paducah in summer 1926 and extended its line from Union to
Jackson, MS in July 1927, thus creating a through route to New Orleans via the
New Orleans Great Northern (GM&N gained control of the NOGN in 1929).
No carload stats, unfortunately.

Subject: [CBQ] Traffic Arrangement With The
GM&N
Hello,
list. As I understand it, the CB&Q in the mid 1920s entered into a traffic
agreement with the Gulf, Mississippi, and Northern to handle Chicago traffic
to/from the Gulf Coast via Paducah, KY. Is there any information on the terms of
this agreement, and how long it lasted? Also, I'm curious as to how much tonnage
actually was routed this way. I appreciate any
help. Regards, Tom Holley Columbus, GA
