Charlie:
I am finishing some O Scale 2-Rail Weaver E9's. I have simulated the stainless steel side panels, but have discovered that decals dull the mirror finish behind the film, and also spraying with a clear finish also turns the mirror finish back into more or less
a non-reflective silver. So I am planning to use dry transfers to letter the 'BURLINGTON'.
Clover House has some excellent dry transfers in Zephyr Gothic, but unfortunately their 3/16" letters are too large and the 1/8" letters are too small. I contacted him about doing a special run of 5/32" high letters, but he advises that he does not currently
have a printer that he is satisfied with for the quality, so he is just selling existing stock and not making any new transfers.
So I plan to contact some makers of dry transfers on my own. I assume that I need to prepare my own art work, as opposed to just furnishing copies of existing dry transfers or decals and telling the printer to adjust the height (that seems unethical to me).
So that is why I am looking for the actual geometry.
I have contacted Dave Lotz and Jim Sandrin for this information. Dave has a drawing somewhere, but has mis-placed it. Jim could only guess that the 'BURLINGTON' is 9" high, which is 3/16" in O Scale, but this is too large based on a mock-up that I did.

Glen-
Off the top of my head I don’t recall seeing any L&P drawings that show Zephyr lettering.
I did the complete alpha and numeric figures based on the CB&Q/Budd drawings of the characters (including some missing ones that were either based on others like P from R and AE for Aeolus. These appeared in Marshall Thayer’s RMC articles on the early Zephyr
trains in RMC and were used by MicroScale for decals. I also did the Aeolus artwork for Nickel Plate Products brass HO decals which later was used by MicroScale for their sets.
I did the CZ car lettering for Broadway Limited Imports plastic cars and also the Kato N Scale Budd Corrugated cars. I didn’t do the cars to scale dimensions but rather proportioned to fit the letterboard panels following photos of the cars so don’t know what
the heights were in inches.
Let me know what you’re working on and I might have something to help you.
Thanks,
Charlie

Is there a drawing or document that provides dimensions for the Zephyr Block lettering used on the stainless steel passenger cars. I am looking for dimensions of the individual letters both for the BURLINGTON letter
board and car names. I remember we have had clinics in the past on freight car lettering sizes, but don't remember anything about passenger cars.
